Every year, businesses and individuals help the Library through donations of goods and services. These include books, professional services, program supplies, food and beverage, historical records and more.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation welcomes donations of professional services like printing, graphic design, catering, media placement, and much more. Teams of volunteers sometimes identify and complete a project as a company-based community service initiative. These pro bono services offset the cost of events and general operations, and the value is further deepened by the relationships that develop with individuals and corporations as a result of these partnerships.
Books and Supplies
Donations of new or gently used books may be incorporated into the Library's circulating collection, or may be sold in a book sale. Please bag or box your in-kind donations in containers that do not need to be returned to you, and take them to your local library branch or to the Main Library, 310 N. Tryon Street. Deliveries are received behind Main Library at the loading dock Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Please note that we do not accept magazines, encyclopedias or damaged items. If you aren’t sure if the Library can use what you have to give, please call (704) 416-0800 to find out.
Collections of a historical nature (e.g., books, photographs, maps, correspondence, research papers and disks of data) may make great additions to the Library’s Robinson Spangler Carolina Room, which houses genealogical and historical materials focusing on Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and North Carolina. To learn more, please contact the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room.
