The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation ensures that the Library continues to be a responsive, vital community resource.
Through twenty branches throughout the county, outreach services and online resources, the Library provides free and open access to information for over one million residents of Mecklenburg County. Library services can change lives, and are intentionally positioned to address some of our community's key challenges:
- The Library transforms lives through economic opportunity. For example, the Job Help Center provides extended computer sessions for job searches, resume assistance, and job skills classes.
- We see the Library’s impact on educational success in the faces of children in early literacy programs, and in the schoolwork of students who access free tutoring, homework help, and digital and print materials with their school ID through the Library’s ONE Access partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
- The Library helps bridge the digital divide in a world where technology is a necessity, yet 19% of Mecklenburg County citizens don’t have internet service. Through extended Library hours, public computers, Chromebooks, free Wi-Fi, and new rentable Hot Spots, individuals have access to the technology they need.
The flexibility of funding from the Foundation allows Library leadership to prioritize allocations in response to changing needs. This support can cover costs from printing to professional development - and the world of possibilities in between.
