Today's Library collection includes traditional print and media, databases and e-learning services, and subscriptions to a vast array of digital content.
Six million items - both print and digital - were checked out of the library last year, nearly a 5% increase over the previous year. The need for library materials is steadily growing.
Public funding provides the majority of the Library's budget for books and materials, and even with generous support from Mecklenburg County, the ABC board and the state of North Carolina, our current per-resident allocation is significantly below the national average for libraries our size. The Library Foundation is committed to narrowing that gap.
