Bruce Moffett has been busy for years, but this month he’s especially busy. The chef and owner of Moffett Restaurant Group is the force behind some of Charlotte’s favorite restaurants – including Barrington’s, Good Food on Montford and Stagioni. This week he opens N.C. Red, and he’s just launched a cookbook, Bruce Moffett Cooks: A New England Chef in a New South Kitchen.
The melding of northern and southern flavors is born of personal experience. He grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island and moved to Charlotte in 2000. His newest restaurant – and the theme of his cookbook – are both directly influenced by his New England roots and culinary training.
We’re thrilled to welcome Bruce to Final Draught at Town Brewing on April 23 for a conversation about his food, his journey, and his new book. The evening will be casual, interactive, and moderated by local historian and foodie Dr. Tom Hanchett.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door, and include light bites. Beer will be available for purchase, and all proceeds will support your Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation.
Final Draught is made possible with support from Red Ventures, with additional support from Town Brewing.
About Bruce Moffett:
Chef Bruce Moffett grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island. After earning a degree in political science and briefly working the political circuit in D.C., Bruce decided his true passion lied in the culinary arts. He was formally trained at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY, and after graduating with honors, Bruce gained restaurant experience in both Atlanta and Boston. In 2000, Bruce moved to Charlotte and opened his own restaurant, Barrington’s. He was recognized as a James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southeast Nominee in 2009.
In 2013, Bruce expanded his culinary reign in Charlotte by launching Moffett Restaurant Group, which oversees three restaurants: Barrington’s Restaurant (2000), Good Food on Montford (2009) and Stagioni (2013). Bruce is looking forward to opening two more restaurants this spring: NC Red in Plaza Midwood and Bao + Broth at Optimist Hall.
Bruce recently released his first cookbook, Bruce Moffett Cooks: A New England Chef in a New South Kitchen.
