Making a Difference

Your Library changes lives, one person at a time. Here are a few of those (real) people: Amelia is a student who uses Library resources with her ONE Access account, and recently received a Library wifi hotspot to use at home. That connectivity, combined with the laptop she received through E2D (Eliminate the Digital Divide), has made her study time more productive and focused, and she is able to complete her school assignments independently.

Run for the Books!

The 7th annual Friends Council Rock & Read 5K is on the books – and it raised over $14,000 for the books. The October 22nd run brought out over 300 library fans who ran, walked, rolled, cheered and skipped their way through Plaza Midwood on a crisp fall morning.

Little Libraries, Big Goals

This week, Foundation staff and a few Friends Council members had an opportunity to meet with Todd Bol, creator and executive director of Our Friends Council has planted over 25 Little Free Libraries throughout the county, and we are in the process of planting more with Habitat Charlotte. Todd is in town this week to share his experience with Little Free Libraries as a means to build community through reading. A few highlights from our conversation:
