What is Verse & Vino?
Verse & Vino is the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation’s signature annual fundraising event, bringing together a community of Library supporters with best-selling, award-winning authors for an entertaining evening of verse, vino, laughter and great company to benefit the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.
Where will Verse & Vino be held this year?
Verse & Vino will be wherever you are! This year’s event will be live-streamed through a secure website, and you can watch and participate from your home, office, or anyplace you choose to celebrate on a computer, tablet, phone, or television.
Is this a Zoom event? How will viewers participate?
This is not a Zoom event. Verse & Vino 2020 will be a highly produced broadcast with new, interactive features. Sheri Lynch will host, live from a studio in Charlotte.
The digital platform allows new opportunities for participation. Viewers will use their computers or smartphones to interact with the program and to learn more about authors and sponsors.
Will it stream over social media?
Participants may share personal photos and reactions over social media platforms, but the event will not stream live over social media. Ticketholders will access a secure web link for viewing.
Can I pause the broadcast if I need to take a break?
The live broadcast will have a pause feature, but some of the viewer participation segments are time-sensitive so it is best watched live.
Is Verse & Vino appropriate for children?
At parents’ discretion, yes. Children who are old enough to enjoy a program with authors of adult literature are welcome to participate. There may be some adult humor or language.
Will I be able to purchase books during this event?
Absolutely! Park Road Books will be selling new releases and other select books from the five authors online throughout the event.
You can also pre-order a book bundle when you purchase your event ticket. Each book bundle costs $125 and includes an autographed new release from each of the five authors. You’ll receive your book bundle prior to the event, so you’ll have time to become familiar with the books in advance of the program.
What is the schedule for the evening?
Get ready for an entertaining evening! From 7:00-7:30 p.m., tune into the pre-show for some technical instructions and fun surprises from the virtual “red carpet.” The program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m., and it will end at 9 p.m. It will include remarks by five New York Times best-selling authors, some drop-in surprises and guests, and opportunities for viewer participation. Books will be available for purchase throughout.
What does my ticket price include?
There are various packages available. The individual ticket price includes a secure link to the program and your choice of one book.
Party packages and sponsorships include a mix of book bundles, party boxes and other features. These can be also be added to any ticket.
What's in a Party Box?
Designed to serve 10 people, a party box contains all the makings of a festive Verse & Vino celebration! Enjoy two bottles of wine and a Town & Country display featuring a warm appetizer, a selection of fine domestic and imported cheeses, display of fresh seasonal fruits, berries and grapes, antipasto display of genoa, pepperoni, capicola, and prosciutto ham, roasted and marinated pepper, marinated mushrooms, and assorted olives, grilled seasonal vegetables with parmesan~peppercorn dip and roasted garlic hummus, accented with assorted crackers, breads, flatbreads, and pita crisps. For dessert, enjoy a decadent chocolate cake with dark chocolate truffle center, with fresh strawberries.
The box will also contain branded favors and gifts from event sponsors – all hand-delivered in advance of the big event.
What's in a Book Bundle?
One book bundle includes a set of five autographed new releases, one from each Verse & Vino best-selling author.
Is a ticket to Verse & Vino tax-deductible?
A portion of the price for an individual ticket, party package or premiere party package is tax-deductible.
