What is Verse & Vino?

Verse & Vino is the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation’s signature annual fundraising event, bringing together a community of Library supporters with best-selling, award-winning authors for an entertaining evening of verse, vino, laughter and great company to benefit the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

Where will Verse & Vino be held within the Convention Center?

Verse & Vino  will be held in the Crown Ballroom at the Charlotte Convention Center. The Convention Center is very large. The closest building entrance to the Crown Ballroom is the NASCAR entrance on Caldwell Street.

Do I need a paper ticket?

You do not need a paper ticket. You will receive your table number from your table host if you are at a sponsor’s table. Individual ticket holders will check in at the event registration table and receive their table number.

How many seats are there at a table?

A table has 10 individual seats.

Where should I park for Verse & Vino?

Self-parking is available at prevailing rates in parking lots and towers surrounding the Charlotte Convention Center. The NASCAR Hall of Fame parking deck is open and conveniently located at 500 Brevard Street, adjacent to the Charlotte Convention Center. The NASCAR Hall of Fame parking deck is also connected to the Charlotte Convention Center via a convenient over-street walkway.  NASCAR will collect a flat event parking fee upon entrance to the  garage.  This self-pay at the beginning will dramatically speed up the exit time after the event. Please ask for the Verse & Vino rate. There is a Carolina Panthers game that evening; game attendees have a different parking rate.

The Westin Charlotte hotel also offers more than 1,600 spaces, conveniently located on the corner of Stonewall and College Streets, adjacent to the Charlotte Convention Center. Additionally, metered parking is available along many of the main streets in Center City. Some parking garages offer parking after 5:00 pm at reduced rates.

What should I wear to Verse & Vino?

The suggested attire for the evening is business or cocktail attire.

Is this event appropriate for children?

Children who are old enough to enjoy a program with authors of adult literature are welcome to attend with a parent. As a reminder, Verse & Vino will include alcohol, so attendance is at the discretion of parents.

Will I be able to purchase books during this event?

Absolutely! Park Road Books will be selling new releases and other select books from the five authors throughout the evening until 9:30 p.m. Be sure to bring your holiday list to purchase books for your friends and family. You can also pre-order a book bundle when you purchase your event ticket. Each book bundle costs $150 and includes the newest release from each author. You’ll receive your book bundle at check-in, so you can avoid the book sale lines and have more time with authors, friends, food and wine!

Will I have the chance to meet the authors?

Authors will be available to sign books during the cocktail reception and for a short time following the program.

What is the schedule for the evening?

Get ready for an entertaining evening! From 6:00-7:00 p.m., there will be a cocktail hour (wine, and cash bar), book sales, and book signing by the authors. Dinner and program will begin at 7:00 p.m. The program is scheduled to end by 9:30 p.m., with an opportunity for additional book sales for thirty minutes after the program concludes.

What does my ticket price include?

The price of a ticket covers wine, dinner, and the program. The ticket does not include parking or books, although book bundles containing new releases from each author are available for pre-order. In addition to wine, a cash bar will be available.

Is a ticket to Verse & Vino tax-deductible?

Yes, your receipt will reflect the tax deductible portion.
