The Dewey Circle was established to acknowledge the outstanding generosity of friends and donors who have included the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation in their estate plans.
Their legacy gifts will provide crucial support for the Library in the years to come, helping us continue to provide for learners of all ages throughout our community. Many donors designate their legacy gifts to help build the Library’s endowment for the future.

Anyone can leave a legacy gift of any size, and there are simple ways to do it. We’d welcome the opportunity to work with you to create a plan that suits your passions and works within your overall estate goals including making provisions through:

Three easy and straightforward ways to make a legacy gift
In your will
To make a bequest to Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation in your will or living trust, you can use the following simple paragraph: “I give, devise, and bequeath to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation [ insert specific details ].”
With your life insurance policy
Simply add Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation as your beneficiary.
With an IRA or other retirement assets
Designate the Library Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, IRA or other retirement assets. To make us a beneficiary you will need to use our legal name: Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation with Federal Tax ID Number 46-1172548.
