ImaginOn’s Around the World in 21 Branches Event

Inspired by the Jules Verne novel of adventure and discovery, we invite you to an entertaining, enlightening, and free event at your local Library branch.

Grab a free Library “passport” and register it for Lowe’s and other gift card drawings, enjoy a fun scavenger hunt created by Library staff, and experience the new Main Library with an exclusive virtual reality tour

Día will culminate this year with a finale at ImaginOn on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring the whole family, meet Peanuts characters and enjoy activities like multicultural storytime, reading to ponies, cultural performances, and storytelling with Monica Brown.

In addition to her storytelling on Saturday, you can also meet author Monica Brown at Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 2701 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209. Books will be available for sale.

Monica Brown

Monica Brown is the award-winning author of over thirty magical multicultural picture books for children including Waiting for the Biblioburro, Marisol McDonald Doesn’t Match/Marisol McDonald no combina, and the Lola Levine chapter book series, inspired by her Peruvian and Jewish heritage. Monica’s books have been featured in the NYTimes, The Washington Post, and on NPR’s All Things Considered and have received multiple starred reviews. She is the recipient of two Américas Awards and The Christopher Award, among others. Recent picture books by Monica include Frida and her Animalitos, Sharuko: El Arqueólogo Peruano/ Peruvian Archaeologist Julio C. Tello, and The Turquoise Room/El cuarto Turquesa. Monica’s forthcoming books include Singing Justice, Singing Peace, a biography of Joan Baez forthcoming from Simon & Schuster/Beach Lane, and a new chapter book series The Fintastical Tales of Mari A. Fisch out Summer 2025 from HarperKids.
