Let’s Chat with April

A new recurring donor, we asked April a few questions to uncover why she booked her monthly support.

What inspired you to become a monthly donor to the Library?

I decided to become a monthly donor at last year’s Verse & Vino. It is one of my very favorite events of the year and I try not to miss it. I always make a donation, but I wanted it to be more meaningful this year. Consistency is key for nonprofits — monthly donations help organizations budget and plan.

Do you have a favorite memory, program, or branch?

ImaginOn was an integral part of raising all three of my daughters. We live in Dilworth, so it was such a fun excursion to take the trolley and then the light rail for story time.

What does the Library mean to you?

I grew up in Concord, and my Mom took me to the Cabarrus County Public Library every week. She was a voracious reader and that rubbed off on me. We would check out bags of books each week. I was so proud when I was old enough to get my own library card. I have always had a very vivid imagination, I loved acting growing up, and I am a good writer. And, most importantly, I really love getting to know people and hearing their stories. I credit all of that to my Mom and the love of reading she developed in me with those weekly pilgrimages to the library.

What would you say to someone who’s thinking about becoming a monthly donor?

Being a monthly donor of unrestricted operational funds is the best way to show your commitment to the library! You can start small and then increase your donation over time. It makes it easier for you to budget your charitable giving. And, the more monthly donors the Library can count on, the easier it is to manage their annual operational cash flow!
