Some of you may be familiar with my story. When I began learning English in middle school, I met an amazing school librarian who challenged me to read books above my grade level. She was my hero, inspiring me to follow my dream of becoming a librarian. Since then, I’ve supported and advocated for libraries because they’re one of the few organizations that truly support communities in an unbiased way. From that experience, I learned that libraries make dreams come true.

After becoming a librarian, I never thought I wanted to be a manager but I’m so glad I took that step! Being a branch leader has allowed me to see staff in a different light and appreciate all their contributions. I truly believe that staff are our most valuable asset and that their ongoing development and frequent recognition should be one of our top priorities. As a branch leader and member of the Culture Team, it’s one of my most important goals.

Over the years, there have been discussions and steps taken towards achieving this goal system-wide. The feedback provided by staff as the Culture Team was being formed frequently reflected a need for branch funds exclusively for staff recognition. I was excited to hear about the Foundation’s campaign! Through this campaign, we can work together to celebrate one another.

I encourage you to give to keep making dreams come true! Every contribution is appreciated. Thank you for all you do every single day for our customers, our colleagues, and our community. You are all heroes.
