State of the Library 2026

On Monday, January 12, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library hosted its inaugural State of the Library at ImaginOn. This first-time event provided the public with a summary of the Library’s 2025 achievements and previewed strategic initiatives, construction projects and essential programs and resources expected in 2026.

Library Board of Trustees Chair Amy Hawn Nelson provided the welcome, and elected officials Mark Jerrell and James Mitchell shared inspirational perspectives on the positive impact of the Library’s work in the community. Helen Hope Kimbrough, Foundation Board of Directors Chair, and Stacey Brown, Board of Trustees Vice Chair, provided closing remarks.  Projects and programs featured include:

  • Community Impact, Barbara Cantisano, Early Literacy Program Manager
  • Mobile Library Services, Abrar Alkusaimi, Mobile Internet Lab (MiLa) Librarian
  • Customer Testimony, Kashvi Jain, ImaginOn customer 
  • Main Library Update, Caitlin Moen, Library Director and Chief Library Services Officer, and Jenni Gaisbauer, Library Foundation Executive Director
