The Update for December 8, 2023

Hello —

The end of 2023 marks the final days of old Main Library. The last vestiges of the tired building surrendered to the bulldozers and claws to make way for the next generation of Library. I am excited and proud to build this next chapter on the corner of Sixth and Tryon with you, our supporters, just like Andrew Carnegie did in 1903.

With the new year comes new construction. It’s been many years (and some tears) in the making but it’s all been worth it to create a space for everyone in our community, an Uptown beacon that will lift up, educate, inspire, and provide resources and support for decades to come. Want to learn more about new Main Library? Visit this page for more information.

Thank you to everyone who showed up on Giving Tuesday last week. You broke the previous year’s record once again with an astounding 294 donors raising over $31,000 for the Library. And that doesn’t even count the generous $10,000 matching gift from the Alpha and Omega Foundation.

As the year closes, I am filled with cherished memories and hopeful anticipation for all the great things to come in 2024. Thank you for another year of remarkable generosity.

With gratitude,

Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE
Executive Director

P.S. Be sure to check out the holiday offerings at your local branches. Perhaps I’ll see you at Allegra Westbrooks Library this weekend for the Community Christmas Celebration. Santa will be there!

Giving Tuesday 2023
