I’d like to share my story with you.
I moved to Charlotte in October of 1990 and became a customer of PLCMC in December 1990. I have checked out 2,234 books so far. Over the years, my two children participated in story time at IB, MH and ML. We made puppets with Miss Donna at MH that I still save; I cherish the memories of all the puppet shows my children performed for me. Novello was an annual event our family attended. My 22 year old son still treasures his signed copy of The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman whose author event we attended during Novello. I utilized library resources to study for the GRE and obtained my MLIS degree. Throughout high school, my daughter came to ML after school and did her homework, often bringing friends with her. I have attended author talks, Shapiro movies, book clubs and other programs throughout the system. When my home computer or printer were not working, I came to the library and used theirs. I have downloaded eBooks, movies and magazines. I have borrowed audiobooks to listen to on my long drives to Michigan. My son has explored 3D printing at the Maker Space.
I plan to continue using library resources for the rest of my life.
I AM a library customer and that’s why I donate to the library foundation. What library resources do YOU use? If you haven’t already, please consider donating to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation.
