Talking Draughts at Final Draught

A scientist, a graphic designer, a banker, and an organic farm enthusiast walked into a bar…and talked for an hour about how they each started a brewery and what libraries mean to them.

That’s the magic of Final Draught, the Library Foundation’s themed speaker series. This new quarterly event, an initiative of the Foundation’s Friends Council, held its second installment on September 14th at Flight Beer Garden, and the topic was Charlotte’s booming brewery scene. Panelists Chris Goulet of Birdsong Brewing Company, Jason Alexander of Free Range Brewing, Chad Henderson of NoDa Brewing and Townes Mozer of Lenny Boy Brewing shared stories of starting a business, taking chances, finding work-life balance, sleepless nights and chasing dreams. And they each shared a list of the books they’ve found useful along the way and the libraries that imprinted their lives.

Final Draught will pop up again in January, featuring a new topic and another panel of local innovators to inspire and unite a community of readers around stories, ideas, and of course…books and beer.
