Mother Minter’s Magical Moments

Starting at 10:15 am

Elisha “Mother” Minter is a storyteller and drummer that delights audiences with beautiful African tales. “The most enjoyable part about sharing stories for me is seeing the faces of those who will listen,” Minter told the Salisbury Post. “It is most gratifying to spark a memory that we can all share and to see the smiles and even concern when some of my characters get into a little trouble. I love the laughter and the warm hugs after the session has ended.” She was a Road Scholar with the North Carolina Humanities Council and holds a B.A. from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in African and African-American studies.

Meagan Church

Starting at 11:15 am

Meagan Church is the best-selling author of two emotionally-charged, empathy-inducing novels: The Girls We Sent Away and The Last Carolina Girl. She apologizes for the tears her stories sometimes cause. After receiving a B.A. in English from Indiana University, Meagan built a career as a freelance writer, and was the editor and publisher of a literary journal. She helps authors tell their own stories through book coaching and editing. A Midwesterner by birth, she now lives in North Carolina with her high school sweetheart, three children and a plethora of pets. She hopes to one day add an otter to the mix.
