Drumroll, please…
This Giving Tuesday you help us raise $30,090 for the Library plus we met the $10,000 match from Alpha & Omega Foundation!
First, of course, I have to say thank you. I will admit to getting a little nervous on Giving Tuesday, with so many deserving organizations in our community, that the Library might not capture your attention. (Cue Sally Field… “you like me, you really like me!”)
Time and time again, Library supporters show up and use their voices and gifts to advance the work that we do. Whether you are a champion for literacy or an advocate for access, together we are strengthening one of the most important assets in our community.
We love it when supporters share a message with their gift like this one we received from Rebecca:
“Thank you to the library and all those that help to keep it going. My children would not get to read as many books as they do without you. I couldn’t afford the dozens of books they read all year. You make all the difference in our lives.”
It’s not too late to make a difference! There is still time to make a gift and help us end the year strong.
As always, with sincere gratitude,
Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE
Executive Director
P.S. In partnership with the Charlotte Hornets and the Grant Williams Foundation, 250 CMS students who participated in the Library’s Summer Break reading program received free tickets to this Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and a new book to add to their home libraries. Thank you for helping us exercise young minds!
Teleia White named new deputy director
While we bid a heartfelt farewell to Karen Beach, and celebrate her well-deserved retirement, we are thrilled to welcome Teleia White into this pivotal role at the Library Foundation. Over her nine years as Director of Individual Giving, Teleia has been instrumental in growing our donor base and thoughtfully stewarding their contributions. Her leadership has elevated our events with seamless execution including Verse & Vino.
We are excited for Teleia to bring her wealth of experience, wisdom, and signature laughter to this new chapter, and we look forward to the impact she will continue to make at the Library.
She will be missed beyond measure.

We appreciate you!
The Library Foundation hosts a special appreciation event every year for its Carnegie Circle members, a group of 300+ Library supporters whose annual gifts of $1,000 or more create a community where reading, learning and imagination thrive. This year Carnegie Circle members will enjoy an evening featuring New York Times best-selling authors Ann Patchett and Kevin Wilson in conversation on April 8, 2025, at the newly renovated Carolina Theatre with a cocktail reception.

Giving Tuesday is December 3
The weekend following Thanksgiving starts with the infamous Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Then comes Giving Tuesday — an opportunity to focus on and celebrate the places and people who strengthen and support our community. Obviously, here at the Library Foundation, we want to shine a spotlight on our libraries and library staff.
