The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library (CML) Board of Trustees has hired Angie Myers as the Library’s new chief executive officer after a nationwide search. Myers has served as interim CEO of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, one of the nation’s leading public urban library systems, since May 2025. She will begin her new role today.
“The Library board unanimously agreed that Angie is the best candidate for the position,” said Board Chair Amy Hawn Nelson. “We need someone who has the experience and expertise to successfully lead the organization through ever-changing economic, social and political landscapes while still meeting the needs of our growing community. Angie is that person.”
As interim CEO, Myers implemented CML’s three-year strategic plan, ensured the advancement of Main Library construction and supported staff through the transition period.
Myers is a certified public accountant who joined the Library as its finance director in 2013. She was promoted to chief finance and administration officer in 2018 and continued that role during her time as interim CEO.

Prior to joining CML, Myers served as a division director in Mecklenburg County’s Financial Services Department where she developed expertise in local government finance and human service agency operations. Her work has allowed her to build strong, collaborative relationships across both organizations and within the community. Coupled with her previous leadership experience in the finance departments of Wells Fargo Bank, Lowe’s, Marriott International- and KPMG, Myers has a solid business foundation. Angie is also a respected member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. She and her family have lived in the area for decades, and her local volunteer work has further strengthened her ties to the community.
As Chief Executive Officer, Myers will oversee the Library system’s 21 locations, nearly 500 employees, a collection of more than 800,000 items and a mission dedicated to improving lives and building a stronger community. Her immediate priorities as CEO will be to successfully open CML’s highly-anticipated Main Library next spring; ensure a balanced budget that sustains operations and advances services; and support the organization’s most important asset – its staff.

Myers earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from James Madison University and a Master of Business Administration from Queens University’s McColl School of Business. She holds several professional certifications and was named one of the 50 most influential women of 2025 by The Mecklenburg Times.
