Thank You

Right now, individuals and organizations locally and globally have great needs of all kinds. Even in these trying times, this community demonstrated overwhelming commitment to Charlotte Mecklenburg Library on Library Giving Day. Donations from over 235 community members and Library users – more than half were first-time donors – totaled more than $25,000, plus an additional $10,000 in matching funds. Thank you for your trust, your generosity, and your partnership.

Since March, we’ve all found new ways to connect. For many, relationships with the Library have deepened as our community has turned to the Library’s trusted resources for education, entertainment and information. Many have found more than they expected: One-on-one assistance from librarian for everything from technical support to researching a business strategy. Connection with a community of readers engaged in a virtual chat with an author. Shared joy as families across the region dance together at home to the same song or story.

Throughout Library Giving Day and National Library Week, we shared short videos from Library supporters who explained why they support the Library. Others have shared their reasons since – and the reasons are as diverse as our community. As author Karin Slaughter shared on a special Giving Day Final Draught, “libraries are the backbone of our communities.”

We come for different reasons, but our Library is a place for us all. We’re in this together, through the pandemic and beyond. Thank you for your support.
