The Storyline for August 14, 2026

Aug 14, 2026

Dear friends,

If you haven’t heard the news yet, we have a new CEO. But this new CEO is definitely not new to us.

The Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Angie Myers as Chief Executive Officer on August 3. Angie had been at the helm as interim for 15 months, bringing her trademark steadiness and insightfulness to the role. For more about Angie and her vision for the Library, check out this article on our website.

Since the Library Foundation’s inception, she has been one of our strongest allies – not only as a member of Library leadership, but also as a longtime member of the community.

Angie shows up. You’ll find her at Final Draught, our local author series, and Verse & Vino presented by PNC, always with the same warmth and energy. Speaking of our annual gala fundraiser, this year’s New York Times bestselling author line-up is our best yet. After years of asking, we finally got legend Walter Mosley to join us along with British murder mystery sensation Lucy Foley, rising star R. F. Kuang, and Kerouac-style storyteller Isaac Fitzgerald. Get your tickets before we sell out!

What I admire most about Angie is her integrity, kindness, and steadfast belief in the core mission of our Library to improve lives and build a stronger community. She lives and breathes this mission and cares deeply for our staff, our supporters, and our entire Charlotte Mecklenburg community.

Under her leadership, I believe the Library is positioned to continue moving upward, meeting the community where they are and stewarding the longstanding trust our County, donor community, staff and customers have had in us for decades.

I asked Angie what supporters like you mean to the Library and she shared this:

“Foundation donors have helped us invest in our staff, refresh and reimagine our physical spaces, equip our outreach teams to reach into library deserts, and serve customers who face barriers to access. Their generosity allows us to pilot, adopt, and share new technology with customers of all ages; build creative partnerships around community priorities like early literacy and economic mobility; and bring engaging, innovative programming to life. You name it, and chances are the donors of the Library Foundation have helped make it possible.

Soon we will be sharing the value and reach of your impact in the Fall edition of Transformations, our biannual newsletter. Not to spoil anything, but our donors hit it out of the park this year. If you’re not on our snail mail list, I encourage you to update your address information on our website.

As always, thank you for supporting the work of your public library.

With gratitude,

Jenni Gaisbauer
Executive Director
