As signs pop up across Mecklenburg County, it’s been exciting to learn what Library users are reading and recommending. The variety reflects the rich diversity of our population – we’ve received titles from contemporary fiction to recent non-fiction, classics, self-help and fantasy.
Some of the most recommended adult titles are:

- American Dirt, by Jeanine Cummins
- The Vanishing Half, by Brit Bennett
- Untamed, by Glennon Doyle
- The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
And for children:
- Watership Down, by Richard Adams
- Charlotte’s Web, by E.B. White
- The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster
The list keeps growing as more generous donors continue to plant their yard signs and share their recommendations.
We’ve extended the Bookmark the Town campaign until June 30 – it’s not too late to pick up a sign for yourself, for Father’s Day or for a favorite graduate.
