What’s Cooking with Shef Shaun?

Where do you go to find new recipes? For a lot of busy people, a Google search brings up millions of dishes with potentially dubious results. Like Neil Gaiman famously said “Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.”

“Around the World in 21 Branches” is the perfect time to try out your local Library as a place to find new meal ideas… and adventures! Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation is featuring Shaun “Shef” Williams at the next event at Mint Hill Library on Saturday, September 16. He will be doing cooking demonstrations — specifically for those with little time to cook or meal plan.

The local chef and entrepreneur will be showcasing three meals including:

  • Chicken Alfredo with Rotini Pasta
  • Steak Quesadillas
  • Pan Seared Salmon with Vegetable Fried Rice and Sauteed Spinach.

Both of my grandmothers were very instrumental in teaching me how to prepare excellent home-cooked meals and desserts,” shared Shef. “They made everything from scratch and often with no written recipes. The secret ingredient to making everything taste so good was definitely ‘Love.’”

Shaun “Shef” Williams was born in Cleveland, OH and at the age of 19, moved to Leonia, New Jersey, where he would finish school and find a job in New York City. He started out as an intern for Russell Simmons’ Phat Farm & Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons and worked his way up to the head of marketing for the children’s division. After working in marketing for over ten years, Shaun decided to open his own catering and events company, 4th Course, where he is currently the sole proprietor serving as CEO, personal chef, and cookbook author.

He will be demonstrating and discussing each dish with an opportunity to ask him your food-related questions. Attendees will also get to sample one of his dishes at the event.

Copies of his first cookbook will be available for purchase at the event, or pick up a copy of Soul in the Citi: Homestyle Cooking in the City” on Amazon. Shef Shaun will be available after the author talk to sign your cookbook.

Shef Shaun currently resides in the wonderful town of Mint Hill, North Carolina, where he is working on his second cookbook and planning to open a restaurant.
